Converting a cheap RGB lamp to esphome

My kid was offered a cheap unicorn shaped lamp. It has RGB LEDs with some effects, an IR remote and an internal battery that allows it to run unpluged from the wall. Seems to be exactly this model. Of course I had to tear it down, no way I was going to “just use it” as intended. Teardown The solder jobs on the PCBs were out right criminal. The battery seems to be an 18650 LiPo. It has what seems to be a thermal sensor next to it. The soldering job on the “BMS” is a botch job that scares the shit out of me, how is this crap a product marketed for children? ...

Using trims as buttons on EdgeTX 2.10

With the release of EdgeTX 2.10 on the 12th of May 2024 came a feature that I’m very interested in. Unused trim switches can be used as 3POS switches This means that, as the (meh) prowd owner of a jumper t-lite v2, a controller that lacks on the button/switch side of things, now I can have 8 extra buttons to work with! Meteor65 glitchy motor plug

This is a short one. I had an issue in my meteor65, one of the motors would some times not start rotating when armed. Everywhere I went on reddit and such told me to increase the starting current of the motor, but that sounded like a hack. Removed the motor connectors and soldered the wires straight to the board, problem solved forever. Now I can bang the drone against the wall at will without ever getting twitchy motors. ...
